Efficacy/Effect | Prevention of convulsions caused by hypomagnesemia, seizures from eclampsia, or uterine rigidity, or to replenish electrolytes (hypomagnesemia) |
Usage/Dosage |
○ Convulsions caused by hypomagnesemia: Intravenous injection of 1 to 2g of magnesium sulfate (4.05 ~ 8.1mmol) ○ Seizures from eclampsia: Intravenous injection of 4 to 5g of this drug over a 10-minute period (16.2 ~ 20.25mmol) ○ Prevention of uterine rigidity: Intravenous injection of initial 4g (16.2mmol) and then 1g ○ Electrolyte supply (hypomagnesemia): 1g intramuscular injection 4 times every 6 hours. Alternatively, 5g of this drug can be added to a 5% glucose injection solution or 0.9% physiological saline solution and administered intravenously over a 3-hour period. In treating deficiency, the patient’s renal excretory function should be carefully monitored ○ Children: The safety of this drug has not been tested on children |
